The Herman Miller Pop-Up Shop

If you'll be in New York City anytime from this week through July 1, you totally need to check out the Herman Miller Pop-Up Shop in Soho. The space is gorgeous, plus they've got tons of you-need-them-now home and office accessories for sale. (No joke. I know I'm biased, but whomever curated the items was pretty genius--it's PACKED with good stuff. My credit card is achin' already.)

Let me gussy up your office. Please.

I'm not cheating on us. I swear. But remember that interview I recently gave over at Herman Miller? Well, in who'd-a-thunk-it news, it actually ended up leading me to a great new side-gig as a contributing writer for Herman Miller's Lifework blog. (Collective group hug!) (I mean, if you're comfortable with that.) (!)

Lifework focuses on how work life and your everyday life merge, and I've been charged with creating roundups of items for the office that look chic and act professional. And on Wednesdays, bust out that iTunes gift certificate you got (and still haven't used) from your Secret Santa or your totally hip aunt--I'm going to be doing a new series on music, which will include interviews with cool people on how music inspires the cool work they create (very cool playlists included). I'm hoping that series will launch next Wednesday, February 24, so stay tuned.

My first post went live yesterday with a roundup of an office, er, staple: staplers. Five fabulous ones, to be exact. Check it out here.

Please do stop by often. I'll be here; I'll be there. And be sure to let me know what you think (and if you're ever on the hunt for a particular office item...I may dedicate a little roundup to you!).

Almost the Real Thing: Eames-chair Art

My favorite piece of furniture is an Eames molded plywood coffee table—a little reward I bought myself after a freelance gig. It sits in my small studio in the small space that I’ve carved out as my “living room.” It holds stacks of unread magazines, hard-back books, and mismatched coasters. It also, more often than not, acts as my dining table.

To reward it for its efforts, I’d love to buy it its accompanying Eames molded plywood lounge chair. But alas…studio apartments aren’t known for being spacious. Therefore, I’m thinking of hanging a little art collection of the chairs nearby, just to keep the table company. Here’s a glimpse of what I’m considering, thanks to etsy.com.
