The Art Director/Copywriter Game
Wanted to share a little photo project I've been working on. It is (as it often is) inspired by my friend Jorge, a creative director and graphic designer. [Jorge, man, how many posts are you responsible for at this point? Yeesh! Don't start charging me...]
When Jorge and I worked together at People en EspaƱol magazine (among others), he had a set of old wooden letterpress letters sitting on his bookshelf that spelled out the word "create." And every week, we (meaning I) played what we dubbed the "Art Director/Copywriter Game," where I'd come in and move his arty little letters around in order to change them into a new word.
Friends: did you know that you can create at LEAST 30 words out of the letters C-R-E-A-T-E?* And if you're counting (because I know you are), that's around 7 months and some change that this lady could come in once a week and totally bug her neat-freak co-worker. And that is awesome.
In honor of the game, I bought some funky-cool letters a few years back from Zipper Gifts and placed them in my home. And for the past few months, I've been trying to turn them into a photography project. I am not totally happy with the pics so far, but I think I need to post them in order to either inspire me to amp it up or realize that they're fine and deal with it. Here are the results...
