Enter to win M-Dashing's first giveaway!

As most of you know, I am blogging over at RealSimple.com to support the Real Simple Pop-Up Shop that our team is launching this Wednesday in Rockefeller Center.

That said, it is a VERY BIG and VERY BUSY week in my world, and I'll be spending most of the next few days in that neck of the woods. You won't be hearing from me as often this week, but so you don't miss me TOO much, I thought I'd leave you a little love: a chance to win my first-ever giveaway!

I have 10 gift bags to give away compliments of Real Simple. They're filled with all kinds of good stuff--things like Real Simple's new 869 New Uses For Old Things book and its Best Recipes: Easy, Delicious Meals cookbook. They've got other fun Real Simple items (Essie's “Real Simple” nail polish, a purse hook, notebooks and more) as well as loveliness from other guest bloggers like Nichole from Little Brown Pen and Amy from ABCD Design. Each bag is worth around $175.

To enter to win a gift bag, complete these four steps:

1. Leave a comment on one of my blog posts at RealSimple.com (follow this link; I'll be there through December 6).

2. Follow @RS_Offers on Twitter.

3. "Like" Real Simple Offers on Facebook.

4. Leave me a comment here on M-Dashing through December 6 to let me know you completed steps 1 - 3. Be sure to leave your email address in case I need to contact you.

I'll draw ten names from the qualified entries and announce the winners after December 6.

Good luck. And if you're in town, do come visit us in Rock Center!

Sorry, folks outside of the U.S. I'll only be able to send gift bags to addresses in the United States.

So while we're at it, here are some things I'm NOT thankful for (2010 edition).

After making this list last year, I thought it might be a fun (or fun for me, at least) exercise to do every Thanksgiving.

Healthy? Probably not. But neither is the second helping of sweet-potato casserole I've just heaped on my plate.

This year, I'm totally not thankful for:

  • Charlie horses

  • Static electricity

  • Birthdays (sorry. I am not a fan)

  • Baked beans

  • Cleaning a tub

  • People who complain about birthdays (dilemma!)

  • Wire hangers

  • Password-blocked wifi

  • Dead batteries

  • iPad envy

  • Passive aggressiveness

  • Dust

  • The M train

  • Haughtiness

  • Suduko addictions

  • The Price Is Right--with or without Bob Barker

  • Plaque

  • Extreme body odor

  • Unibrows

7 Items That Were Supposed To Be Door Handles, But Are Not

Inspired by this post over at Daniel Kanter's "Manhattan Nest" blog on changing out the hardware on a bathroom vanity, I recently set to work finding some new door handles for a grody old TV stand that I got from Target back in the day. (I figured it was an inexpensive way to change the look of a piece of furniture I can't afford to replace right now.) (I'm on a kick--can you tell?)

So I got to searching "handle" on Etsy.com. And oh, how I was distracted by the totally-not-drawer-handle results! Check it.

[Incidentally, I have gotten NOwhere on my TV-stand-door-handle search. Got any recommendations? I am looking for something that's 96mm or 3 3/4". Awesome okay thanks.]
