Rooting for the Home Team

So anyway my friend and also coworker Kruti Joshi is a genius.

A couple of weeks ago, on her way to a ballgame featuring the suddenly awesome New York Knicks, Kru wanted to show the team and now-superstar Jeremy Lin some support, but in a totally cooler, non-pun-ny way. (I mean, how many "Lin It To Win It"s can we have? Stop the insanity. And the Linsanity.) (Bleh. That choked me coming out.)

By sticking to the basics—the number 17 on Lin's jersey, the Knicks' iconic orange and blue colors—Kruti whipped up a super-fun banner for the game. Afterward, she posted it to her Facebook wall...and the crowd went nuts. So much so, that Kruti immediately set up shop on Etsy and is now selling must-have-'em men's tees. Women's are soon to come. Get yours here.

God bless good design. #Linspiration #D'oh!

Design Details from the Real Simple Pop-Up Shop

Since December 8, several of us from Real Simple have been holding court at our pop-up shop in Bryant Park--and needless to say, I've been spending a lot of time there. It's a lot of work, and a real labor of love.

I am taking photos and tweeting away for our promotional handle @RS_Offers right now, and I can't stop shooting pics of several of the props decorating the shop. And while I know that the look of this event is truly a team effort, I do also know which decor touches are oftentimes my favorite: those from stylist Chip Cordelli. Here's a peek at a few of them.

P.S. Come visit us if you're in the NYC area! The shop runs through Tuesday the 13th. Details are here.

The Boat House, Lambertville, NJ

For the first time ever, I have been utterly and completely inspired by a bar.

Witness: the interior of this nautically delicious spot in Lambertville, NJ. Oh, how I love a theme!

Escape from Brooklyn: Buck's County, PA

You know what makes my face melt in home-decor happiness? My friend Danny Seo's home in Buck's County, PA. He was kind enough to host my girl Sonal and me for a little visit over the long weekend, and I think I spent 50% of my time with my camera around my neck, exploring every nook and cranny of his magical, thoughtfully designed space (parts of which are featured in his new book Upcycling).

I sort of want to live in his brain. (And also his kitchen. And his workspace. And his living room.)
