I Spy

I've recently started a little photo series on things I spot through closed store windows and fences. (I know. Maybe that sounds slightly creepy, but let's just go with it.)

I like the fuzzy effect the protective bars and fence wires make on the edges of the pictures as my lens sticks its nose in where it doesn't belong. I mean, those bars and wires are just doing their job, right?

My favorite of these is the piano. I noticed it in abandoned in a school yard, which was sort of creepy-cool. The image of a dirty, left-for-trash piano in the back of a school just seems to be BEGGING for a short story to be written about it...

Subway Scrawlin'

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: As someone who creates printed material for a living, I often think I should be more outraged when I see graffiti on posters in the subway. But instead, I am 100% entertained. Here are some of my latest finds down in the bowels of NYC.

(And you're welcome for that "bowels of NYC" line. I thought it might be gross/scary/apropos, you know, given that Halloween is on its way. Have a gross/scary/happy one!)

Preppy Perfection

Okay, so holy crap my weekend was amazing.

I was invited with a friend to a press weekend sponsored by Audi at Winvian, a private resort in Morris, Connecticut (about two hours north of the city). It was one of those experiences that I just can't find enough happy adjectives to use to describe it. The food! The quirky cottages! The spa! The service! The fireplaces! It was over the top and very luxurious and totally the kind of weekend I wish had every, well, day. Take a gander. P.S. One of the cottages even had a helicopter in it. A HELICOPTER. Check it here.

Food torch. Always entertaining. This one was from the folks at Colicchio and Sons.
